The What Were They Thinking 1 & 2 DVDs are videos compiled of real footage showing extreme sport atheletes' stunts gone bad. The two DVDs were produced by MATCHLIGHT Entertainment and distributed by Xtreme Entertainment Group (XEG) in 2004.
The videos' covers definitely seem promising with their "SHOCKING", "UNBELIEVABLE" "DEATH-DEFYING" labels, but how extreme are these two videos? As a fan of such genres and XEG's products, I decided to purchase them from Amazon.
Before we go any further, I would like to let you know that the movies do not contain any gore. e.g. you will not see people split in half with their guts outside, neither will you see someone ending up with a cracked skull with blood leaking all over the ground. These footage in these videos mostly consists of teenagers with skateboards, rollerblades, and bikes attempting to do stunts but fail. Now of course, this is not one of those lame accident compilations consisting of 5 second clips you might find on the web, but maybe a little more extreme.
On each clip that we see in the videos, we have a narrator who is commenting the situation in the background. Some clips will make you laugh, some could make you cringe. In some situations, the people pass out and immediately require medical attention such as on the clip where one kid tries to go through a few stairs' fence, smacking his head to the ground or an in-line skater that fails to jump a 25ft gap.
In my opinion, this is a jaw dropping compilation of all sorts of sports accidents and as I already mentioned earlier,
there's commentary on pretty much every video explaining the situation
and location of the accident, not one of those video compilations with background music consisting of 5 second clips. We are given information on each clip and
the clips don't seem to be cut at all. You see the accident, then you
see the aftermath. These two video is well worth the money!
You can still find some used copies at Amazon for a very cheap price if you don't want to spend a higher amount of money for a brand new unused. Link.
