uTorrent, which is technically pronounced “micro-torrent” but commonly called “you-torrent”, is still one of the most widely used clients today despite its recent bloating with features and adware.
Although the majority of Linux users nowadays prefer other BitTorrent clients (such as Transmission, Deluge, qBittorrent, and a few others) some of you have probably already gotten used to using uTorrent. It is still possible to run an old version of uTorrent prior to its bloating (2.2.1) but that would require you to use Wine. This is the official way of installing the BitTorrent client to your distro.
Installing uTorrent in Linux
Step 1: Download the uTorrent server package from hereStep 2: Extract the uTorrent files.
1. Launch the terminal by pressing CTRL + ALT + T
2. Change the current directory to Downloads folder by typing the following command:
cd ~/Downloads/3. Extract the uTorrent files to the /opt/ directory
sudo tar xvzf utserver.tar.gz -C /opt/Step 3: Setting the permission

1. Open Firefox and go to the following url
localhost:8080/gui2. Type in the username "admin" and leave the password field empty.
3. You should now see uTorrent on your Firefox browser as shown in the image below.
